Sheep farming brothers among winners of first AgTechUCD accelerator programme

We're thrilled to announce a landmark achievement for Cotter Agritech: being named among the first-ever winners of the University College Dublin’s accelerator program, specifically designed to elevate early-stage AgTech and FoodTech startups. This accolade, the AIB and Yield Lab AgTech Start-up 2022, comes with a €10,000 prize, recognizing our efforts to reducing chemical usage in livestock farming with our SmartWorm product.

Our journey, rooted in the vision of founders and brothers, Jack and Nick Cotter from Limerick, is dedicated to revolutionising agricultural practices through precision application of antiparasitic treatments. Our approach, which significantly reduces the need for blanket chemical treatments by targeting only those animals in need, has been validated through rigorous research trials.

Other awards given on the day included the Ornua Most Innovative AgTech Start-up 2022 award and the AgTechUCD One to Watch 2022, granted to our peers ProvEye and Izario, underscore the vibrant innovation ecosystem we're proud to be part of. ProvEye's advances in agricultural imagery analysis and Izario's development of an autonomous barn-operating robot highlight the breadth of innovation that the AgTechUCD accelerator program has and will continue to nurture.

Participation in the AgTechUCD accelerator was an invaluable experience for Cotter Agritech. The program provided us with comprehensive business development workshops, mentorship, and facilitated introductions to a network of venture capital and business angels. It has amplified our visibility in the marketplace, helping us attract new customers and potential investors!

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to University College Dublin and program manager Niamh Collins, the accelerator program partners, and all who have supported us on this journey. We're delighted with the recognition and excited about the opportunities it opens up for us to continue innovating for a healthier, more sustainable agri-future.
